Maximizing the Knights of Columbus Effectiveness in the Laredo Diocese by identifying key charities that all councils can combine their time, talent and treasure to support.
Welcome to the Diocese of Laredo Knights of Columbus—a brotherhood of more than 1,200 Catholic men serving our parishes, families, and community. As part of the statewide Knights of Columbus presence of 117,000 Texas Knights and a worldwide membership of 2.1 million, we contribute to one of the most active Catholic service organizations in the world.
Use site for news, event registration, and resources, our diocesan presence exists to support our Knights locally—helping councils grow, serve, and achieve their goals through unity and collaboration.
The current theme, “Follow Me,” introduced by Texas State Deputy Ron Alonzo, reminds us that Christ leads our work and strengthens our purpose. Across Texas, 15 dioceses and 800+ councils collaborate in living out the principles of Charity, Unity, Fraternity, and Patriotism.
Our mission is to unite the 1,200 Knights of the Diocese of Laredo in strengthening parish life, supporting families, and serving the needs of our community. Connected to 117,000 Knights in Texas and millions worldwide, we work to put our faith into action through service, prayer, and fraternity—guided by this year’s call to “Follow Me.”
Our vision is to be a strong and visible force for good in South Texas:
supporting our clergy,
strengthening families,
defending human dignity, and
responding wherever there is need.
Together with the councils across 15 Texas dioceses, we remain committed to showing that where there is a need, there is a Knight.
The following chart shows the organizational structure of the Knights of Columbus. An overview of a few key points indicates the importance of this structure.
The Supreme Council is responsible for the development of the organization as a whole, establishing it in new regions and setting up regional authorities, defining and advancing its values and goals, undertaking organization-wide initiatives, promoting awareness of the Knights’ mission worldwide, and protecting the families of members through its extensive insurance program. The majority of the Knights’ beneficial work, however, is carried on by members working in local, or subordinate, councils. Therefore, the organizational and financial structure of the Knights of Columbus plays a vital role in the success of the Knights’ mission.
At the Knights of Columbus, "per capita" refers to the standard administrative assessments billed to local councils based on their active membership roster. These foundational funds are essential for sustaining our fraternal operations, providing vital council support, and amplifying our charitable impact across all structural levels of the Order.
